'The Guns of Women': Will Selena Gomez Produce the Remake?

Will Selena Gomez (30) soon be devoting herself to the next big film project? According to Variety, the actress and singer could take over the production of a reboot of US comedy Working Girl. In the film classic by director Mike Nichols (1931-2014) from 1988, Melanie Griffith (64) played the protagonist Tess McGill alongside Harrison Ford (80) and Sigourney Weaver (72).

According to the report, Gomez is currently in final negotiations with film production company 20th Century Studios. The reinterpretation could then be published on Hulu, which is also where Gomez's hit series Only Murders in the Building is currently running. The screenplay was penned by Ilana Pena.

Further details regarding direction and casting are not yet known. There is also speculation that Gomez will co-star.

The US comedy from the 80s is about the secretary Tess McGill (Griffith), who takes over the office in Manhattan after her boss Katharine (Weaver) broke her leg on a skiing vacation. But when she comes up with a compelling idea, Katharine tries to get the credit for it and presents it to her business partner Jack Trainer (Ford) as her own.

The film was a huge hit at the time, grossing more than $100 million at the box office. It also won an Oscar for Best Song and received five other nominations.
