Hamburger SV put on a spectacular performance against Hannover 96 in the northern derby on Friday. HSV could overtake the rest of the league. Düsseldorf can at least use binoculars to look towards the top after beating overwhelmed Bielefeld. Kiel leaves points, Fürth does not move.
Fortuna Dusseldorf - Arminia Bielefeld 4: 1 (1: 1)
Fortuna Düsseldorf stays on the rise ranks. Coach Daniel Thioune's team won 4-1 (1-1) against Arminia Bielefeld, who had been relegated to the Bundesliga, on Saturday and climbed to fourth place in the table, at least temporarily, with 17 points. Bielefeld slipped to relegation place 16.
Shinta Appelkamp (21st) gave the hosts the lead in front of 25,841 fans, Robin Hack (34th) scored the equalizer for the guests with a penalty kick. Just a few minutes after the break, the Japanese international Ao Tanaka (47') put the hosts back in front, the outstanding Appelkamp (66') made the decision with his second goal. Tim Oberdorf (76th), who came on as a substitute in the 60th minute, headed the ball.
Düsseldorf started dominantly, Felix Klaus narrowly missed the goal of the guests with a shot from the turn (16th). Appelkamp did better five minutes later, putting the ball in the visitors' goal after a cross from Michal Karbownik. After a foul by Fortuna defender Christoph Klarer on Marc Rzatkowski, referee Bastian Dankert pointed to the point, Hack marked the 1-1 with his fifth goal of the season.
The second half started turbulently, after a few seconds Janni Serra missed the 2:1 of the guests (46th). In return, it was Tanaka, who put Düsseldorf in the lead again from just a few yards out. After a wonderful preparatory work by Dawid Kownacki with a heel, Appelkamp put together his brace.
Holstein Kiel - Hansa Rostock 1: 1 (1: 0)
Holstein Kiel dropped two points. The storks had to be content with a 1:1 (1:0) against Hansa Rostock in the northern duel. A hand penalty goal by Fabian Reese (28th) meant the lead for Kiel. This was preceded by a handball by Rostock's defender Nico Neidhart in the penalty area. Lukas Hinterseer (88th) saved the guests a point that was not even undeserved due to the performance in the second half.
After the last two defeats, KSV Holstein was again unable to score three times. The fourth defeat in the last five games was just averted for the Rostockers. Both teams are in the middle of the table.
In the ninth minute, Steven Skrzybski had the great opportunity to score the opener for Kiel from eight yards out, but was denied by the well-reacting keeper Markus Kolke. In the period that followed, Kiel continued to dominate the game, while Hansa acted very awkwardly and unimaginatively. It wasn't until the start of the second half that the visitors got stronger. However, John Verhoek (47') and Kai Pröger (49') were unable to take advantage of their chances. After an hour, Kiel had a double chance to make it 2-0, but Reese and Fin Bartels missed.
Greuther Furth - SV Sandhausen 1: 1 (0: 1)
Bundesliga relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth just doesn't get going. The cloverleaf had to settle for a 1-1 (0-1) draw against SV Sandhausen at home and is fourth from the bottom of the table with just eight points. Most recently, there was the first win of the season against SC Paderborn (2-1).
Alexander Esswein (12th) scored the 1-0 for the sand houses, who had gone six games in a row without a win. The SVS scored their last three on August 5 against Fortuna Düsseldorf (1-0). The goal was preceded by a blatant error by Max Christiansen, who did not hit the ball properly after a throw-in. Julian Green (48th) made sure the hosts equalized. In the third minute of added time, Sandhausen's Tom Trybull saw the yellow-red card.
Ragnar Ache (35th) had previously had a great chance to equalize for the Franks, but goalkeeper Patrick Drewes parried the shot from twelve meters.
