According to measurements by the German Weather Service (DWD), it was the hottest on Tuesday in Bad Berka (Weimarer Land) with around 32 degrees and in Martinroda (Ilm-Kreis) with around 33 degrees. In Jena, the 30-degree mark had not yet been broken by midday. Gera was also slightly below. Erfurt, on the other hand, just above it. According to a DWD meteorologist, it can be assumed that the temperatures will continue to climb until the afternoon. Daily highs of 36 to 38 degrees are to be expected in Thuringia.
"Tomorrow it can even occasionally go up to 40 degrees," said the weather expert. 40 degrees have not yet been measured in the entire Central German region. The historical maximum temperature in Thuringia was measured at 39.3 degrees in July 1957 in Bad Blankenburg. Jena came close in 2019 with 38.8. "So one or the other record could be broken." The high "Jürgen" is responsible for the heat.
