Strong referee criticism: Tuchel is threatened with even more trouble after the tumult

After an initial penalty for the incidents in his Chelsea FC game against Tottenham Hotspur, Thomas Tuchel has to answer to the English Football Association again: there is not only trouble for the coach turmoil with Antonio Conte, but also for a violent referee's scolding.

The English Football Association has initiated the next procedure against Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel. The 48-year-old was officially charged with his referee criticism after the 2-2 derby against Tottenham Hotspur. After completing the investigation, the FA accuses him of improper conduct.

After the game on August 14, Tuchel criticized referee Anthony Taylor and also complained about Taylor's interaction with the video referee (VAR). Among other things, Tuchel had said that it "maybe better" if Taylor no longer directed Chelsea games. The former Bundesliga coach can comment until Thursday. He had previously been banned for a game by the FA for an altercation with fellow coach Antonio Conte.

Tuchel had clashed with Conte at 2-2 in the heated London derby last Sunday: When both met for the obligatory handshake after the final whistle, the tense mood during the game escalated: Tuchel did not let go of Conte's hand, who was responsible for the matter in the wanted to do in passing and asked his colleague to look him in the eye when shaking hands. In a flash, both coaches were standing head to head on the field yelling at each other, quickly surrounded by players and their respective staffs, and had to be separated from each other. Both coaches had seen the red card for it.

"I thought that you look into each other's eyes when we shake hands, but he had a different opinion," said Tuchel afterwards about the trigger for the tumult. The fact that both saw red was "not necessary", said the former Bundesliga coach. "But a lot of things weren't necessary today. Another bad decision by the referee."

The game suspension against Tuchel, against which the Blues can appeal, has been suspended for the time being until the statements requested by the coaches are available and can be evaluated. Tuchel was also fined £35,000 for his conduct. Italy's Conte has to pay £15,000 and was not given a suspension.
