Johnny Depp is probably working on a second mainstay. The Hollywood star is releasing an album with musician Jeff Beck. Two songs are penned by the actor - the rest are cover songs.
Hollywood star Johnny Depp is releasing an album with British rock musician Jeff Beck after the end of his defamation trial. The album "18" will be released on July 15, as announced by Depp and Beck. The two cover hits by the Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye and the Velvet Underground. Depp wrote two songs: "This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr" and "Sad Motherfuckin' Parade."
Depp and Beck met in 2016 and became friends over their love of "cars and guitars." "When Johnny and I started making music together it really sparked our youthful spirit and creativity," said Beck, 77. "We joked that we felt like we were 18 again, so that became the title of the album."
Depp, who also accompanies Beck on a European tour, said it was "an incredible honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the greatest people I can now call my brother."
After weeks of negotiations with lots of dirty details, both parties were found guilty in the defamation trial between Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard a week ago - but Heard's sentence is significantly higher. Heard, 36, has been ordered to pay her ex-husband $15 million in damages, while Depp, 59, has been fined $2 million. Heard's fine is reduced to $10.35 million because of a cap on fines in Virginia.
The actress known from the film "Aquaman" had accused her ex-husband of domestic violence. Depp then sued his ex-wife for defamation and in turn accused the actress of repeatedly becoming violent.
