Ulm (dpa / lsw) - A 97-year-old man was found dead in his house after his son had denied rescue workers and the police access to the house for hours. The man called the emergency services around 5 a.m. on Thursday because of a medical emergency, the police and prosecutors said.
When rescue workers arrived at the house in the Göppingen district, the man did not let them in and reportedly barricaded himself in the building. Since the rescue workers had had difficulties with the man in the past, they asked the police directly for help. A judge finally approved entering the building and a special task force (SEK) was called. Without the man's resistance, the SEK got into the house around 9 a.m., as a spokesman for the public prosecutor said. There they found the 97-year-old in a wheelchair. An ambulance determined the man was dead.
Investigations should clarify whether the son bears responsibility for the death of his father. The body will be autopsied. The authorities did not provide any further information on the place of residence and the parties involved.
