Geldersheim (dpa / lby) - After a violent fight in an anchor center for asylum seekers in Geldersheim (Schweinfurt district), nine suspects are in custody. In total, investigations were initiated against 17 people after the incident in mid-October, the public prosecutor's office in Schweinfurt and the police headquarters in Lower Franconia announced on Friday.
On October 17, two groups of Algerians and Afghans clashed in the anchor center in such a way that they not only fought but, according to the investigators, also used "beating and stabbing tools". Several people were injured, two wounded were taken to the hospital.
In order to determine the exact circumstances of the crime, the criminal police and the police station in Schweinfurt had set up a joint investigative commission, which, among other things, carried out eight raids. According to the current status, a total of 34 people were identified who were present or even involved in the altercation. The police investigated, among other things, because of the suspicion of dangerous bodily harm.
