Bavaria: Corona puts intensive care units under more pressure again

Munich (dpa / lby) - With increasing corona incidences, more people are being treated in the Bavarian intensive care units. These are again increasingly reporting restrictions in operation, as can be seen from figures from the intensive care register. As of Friday afternoon, 73 intensive care units from the Free State reported restricted operation, 42 reported partial restrictions and only 60 reported regular operation. Just over a month ago, the relationship between restricted and regular operation was reversed.

There has also been an increase in the number of corona patients treated in Bavarian intensive care units since mid-June. However, it is still relatively low: as of Friday afternoon it was 142. In the first omicron waves in spring, this number was sometimes over 400. At that time, however, the incidences were more than three times the current values.

For some time now, incidences have been rising again across all age groups, most recently particularly in school-age children and adolescents. According to the figures published weekly by the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL), the groups between 12 and 15 and between 16 and 19 with incidences of 985 and 922 were most affected on Thursday.
