Bavaria: Raid on gold transporter: High reward for tips

Alzenau (dpa / lby) - After false police officers attacked a gold transporter in Lower Franconia, a reward of 100,000 euros has now been offered for information from the population. According to a police statement on Thursday, the investigators are primarily hoping for more information about the getaway car, the handcuffs and the loot.

As early as August 19, armed strangers in police uniforms stopped a valuables transporter in an industrial area in Alzenau (Aschaffenburg district) and tied up the occupants. According to the police, they robbed several containers with gold granules. The abandoned getaway vehicle was later found burning a few miles away near a freeway commuter parking lot. According to the information, the car was stolen in Langen in Hesse (Offenbach district) at the end of June, but also appeared in Berlin before the attack.

In addition to information about the car, the police are now investigating, among other things, which company manufactures handcuffs with six-digit numbers. In addition, the investigators hope for clues to the loot, i.e. to larger quantities of gold granules offered for sale.

The reward was offered by two aggrieved companies. The police initially did not disclose the value of the loot.
