Schweinfurt (dpa / lby) - Within a few days, there was a fire in two apartment buildings on the same street in Schweinfurt - now two suspects are in custody. So far, the investigators see no connection between the acts, as the police and prosecutors announced on Tuesday. The motives of the accused were initially unclear.
A fire broke out in the basement of a house last Thursday night. The next day, a 34-year-old from Schweinfurt became the focus of investigators, who accused her of attempted murder in 15 cases and serious arson. A man suffered minor injuries from smoke in the fire. Most of the approximately 20 residents were able to save themselves on their balconies.
On Saturday evening there was a fire in the basement of another apartment building in the street. Police arrested a suspect at the scene. The 55-year-old, who lived in the house, was taken into custody on Sunday on suspicion of serious arson. A 21-year-old who was putting out the flames suffered smoke inhalation.
