Bayern: Fürth is not gaining momentum: "Doesn't feel good"

The Fürth wanted to improve against Sandhausen. But the victory plan doesn't work out at 1:1. Only Green hits his head - not enough.

Fürth (dpa / lby) - SpVgg Greuther Fürth just doesn't really get going in the 2nd Bundesliga. Two weeks after the acclaimed first win of the season against the then league leaders SC Paderborn, the Bundesliga relegated team had to settle for an unsatisfactory 1-1 (0-1) draw against SV Sandhausen at home in Ronhof. The requirement of coach Marc Schneider was missed. "We have to do more," the Swiss had said before kick-off. After the tie, the Fürth coach said: "The point doesn't feel good for us." The Franks don't get away down there.

Julian Green was only able to avert defeat with his header in the 48th minute after a precise cross from the very agile full-back Simon Asta. Alexander Esswein put the guests ahead after a mistake by Fürth's Max Christiansen on a pass from David Kinsombi (12'). In added time, Sandhausen's Tom Trybull received a yellow-red card for delaying the game. With nine points, the SVS is still one point ahead of the Fürth team.

"We can be satisfied with the way we played, but not with the result," said goalscorer Green. In front of 8637 spectators, his team was closer to victory. However, the exploitation of chances was not right. Sandhausen's goalkeeper Patrick Drewes reacted twice in Fürth's pressure phase before the break to shots by Ragnar Ache (35') and Green (37'). A header from attacker Ache flew just wide of the goal in the 73rd minute. "Unfortunately, we couldn't add the second goal," said Schneider after losing two points.
