Groß-Umstadt (dpa/lhe) - When two cars collided in Groß-Umstadt in southern Hesse (Darmstadt-Dieburg district), four people were injured, one woman seriously. When a car ahead braked, a 20-year-old got into oncoming traffic for reasons that have not yet been clarified, the police said on Wednesday. His car then collided with an oncoming car in which two men, aged 25 and 53, were sitting.
Both vehicles were thrown against a fence and a parked car as a result of the impact on Tuesday evening. The 29-year-old passenger of the 20-year-old was trapped and had to be freed from the car by emergency services. She suffered serious injuries, the three men were slightly injured. All four were taken to hospitals.
The police estimate the property damage at at least 50,000 euros. The road was blocked for around two hours for the rescue work.
