Hesse: Life imprisonment against mother and son confirmed

Darmstadt/Karlsruhe (dpa/lhe) - Two life sentences imposed by the Darmstadt Regional Court for murder against a mother and her son are final. The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe has now confirmed the judgments and thus rejected the appeal filed by both parties. In August 2016, according to the judges, the 27-year-old man, on the instructions of his mother (51), suffocated a 55-year-old woman who lived in the Frankfurt apartment of the two. The convicts, who are Germans, had laid the corpse in a rainwater overflow basin near a furniture store.

The woman who died had lived with her mother and son for a number of years. "It was a murder after years of humiliation, humiliation and torture," said the presiding judge in Darmstadt in 2021. The victim had to live in the kitchen and was regularly abused by mother and son for trivial reasons. In 2016 they got tired of it. When she didn't move out, she was murdered, the court said.

A third, 25-year-old suspect, who had also lived in the apartment, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in the Darmstadt trial for bodily harm resulting in death. His sentence is a juvenile sentence as he was under 21 in 2016. He and the son had made confessions. The 25-year-old's DNA, which was secured on the victim in 2016, could only be assigned to him in 2019 and thus clarify the case.
