"I'll kill you!": Theo Waigel doesn't let anyone touch his eyebrows

Whether beautiful or not - that's debatable. But one thing is undeniable: the bushy eyebrows are undoubtedly Theo Waigel's visual trademark. And the former Federal Minister of Finance will not shake that, as he now unequivocally clarifies.

Ex-Federal Finance Minister Theo Waigel has never let scissors near his eyebrows - and when in doubt he gets angry. "No one has ever been allowed to use scissors on my eyebrows," he told the "Augsburger Allgemeine" and gave a direct example: "Recently there was a television crew at my house. Someone wanted to cut something up there. I have said: Please don't do that! I'll kill you!"

Even if he withdrew from the front row of politics a long time ago, he is still sometimes recognized today, Waigel continued. "Two years ago I was in Tyrol when a man came up to me, looked at me and said: 'But you're not Theo Waigel?'" explains the former CSU boss in the interview. "I said: No. Then he said: 'That's right, he's already died.' I then answered him: You are right - three years ago or so."

And Waigel confessed something else to the "Augsburger Allgemeine": a great crush on Gina Lollobrigida. "In the 1950s, Gina Lollobrigida was the most beautiful woman in the world for me. I admit: I might have been unsure about my affection for Franz Josef Strauss and the Junge Union," says the 83-year-old.

Decades later, he was at a benefit event that the actress was supposed to be at, says Waigel. "But suddenly someone came and said she was unwell and would rather stay in her room. I told him that it had been a dream of my youth to meet this woman. Then he went up to the room - and imagine before: Half an hour later she came down and we had a nice evening," Waigel recalls, adding: "By the way, I would like to emphasize that my wife Irene was also there."

Gina Lollobrigida died on January 16th. The Italian cinema legend was 95 years old.
