Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Diesel thieves empty truck tanks

Klein Kordshagen (dpa/mv) - Diesel thieves in Western Pomerania did not wait for the price reductions announced for June 1st. As a police spokesman said on Thursday, the perpetrators broke into the tank of a larger truck in Klein Kordshagen (West Pomerania-Rügen) on Wednesday night. With technical help, they stole around 500 liters of diesel, fled and left a damaged tank. The damage is estimated at almost 2000 euros. The price of diesel on Thursday morning was just under two euros despite the tax cut in the east of MV.

Since the sharp increase in fuel prices in March, there have been several major diesel thefts, especially in Western Pomerania and southwest Mecklenburg. Most recently, hundreds of liters of fuel were tapped from truck tanks in Lütow (West Pomerania-Greifswald) in mid-May.
