Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Sparkasse cuts branches: some only self-service

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Schwerin is thinning out its branch network: Of the 22 branches so far, 6 will be converted into self-service points without staff by the end of the year, as the Sparkasse announced on Tuesday in Schwerin. According to the information, the branches in Brüel, Marnitz, Mestlin, Parchimer Weststadt, in Schwerin at Platz der Freiheit and in Vellahn are affected.

This increases the number of self-service points from 14 to 20. Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Schwerin also has six branches in the state capital and the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim that offer a comprehensive range of advice.

Jobs should not be cut. According to the information, the employees of the affected branches are moving to other branches. In the months of the corona pandemic, it was found that the need for services in the branches was decreasing, the savings bank said. Instead, customers increasingly used the self-service terminals, online offers and telephone advice.
