Wülfrath (dpa / lnw) - In Wülfrath near Wuppertal, a truck ran over a 52-year-old pedestrian and initially seriously injured her. The woman died hours later in hospital, police said on Thursday.
On Wednesday morning, a 54-year-old truck driver turned his 26-ton truck from a freight forwarding site onto Dieselstraße. He overlooked the 52-year-old, although he said he was driving at walking speed and acting prudently. Now it is being determined why he only noticed the woman through her screams and the impact.
The woman was dragged along by the truck a few meters and was then trapped under the left front wheel. The fire brigade had to lift the truck with a lifting device to free the woman.
