North Rhine-Westphalia: fatal police shots: special session in the state parliament

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the case of the deadly police shots at a 16-year-old in Dortmund, the legal committee of the state parliament will meet for a special session on Wednesday (September 7th). The SPD parliamentary group had requested the meeting. The reason for this is a new government report that puts some of the events in Dortmund in a new light.

According to the report, the public prosecutor's office is examining whether to expand the investigation into manslaughter against the police officer who shot. In addition, the head of operations and three other police officers who used pepper spray and tasers before the deadly shots are now being investigated.

Referring to the government's new report, the SPD had written in its application for a special session that further questions had now arisen "that require immediate parliamentary processing". The special session of the legal committee will take place on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The day after (September 8th), the state parliament's interior committee will meet for a planned meeting - and also talk about the Dortmund case. A report on the incident is on the agenda.
