North Rhine-Westphalia: Retired NRW civil servants should receive an energy allowance

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The state government would like retired state civil servants to receive a one-time energy price lump sum of 300 euros. This was announced by NRW Finance Minister Marcus Optendrenk (CDU) on Monday in Düsseldorf. The state government will recommend that the state parliament adopt this regulation for the approximately 223,000 pension recipients in NRW, said the CDU politician. In the state budget, this has an impact of around 70 million euros.

In general, pensioners should receive a one-time energy price lump sum of 300 euros on December 1st, which must be taxed. The measure is part of the third relief package to cushion rising living costs, which the traffic light coalition in the federal government agreed on the week before last. A federal-state summit will shortly be discussing the cost allocation.
