North Rhine-Westphalia: Woman is hit by a projectile on New Year's Eve

Bottrop (dpa / lnw) - A woman was hit by a projectile from a weapon on New Year's Eve in Bottrop and was slightly injured. It's unclear who shot her and why. The 54-year-old celebrated the turn of the year on the street shortly after midnight and suddenly felt pain in her arm, the police said on Monday. The woman assumed that she was hit by a flying firecracker. On New Year's Day she went to a hospital - and the doctors found a projectile from a gun in the wound. There is no evidence that anyone intentionally shot the woman, a spokesman said.
