Halle (dpa/sa) - The municipalities in Saxony-Anhalt received around 544 million euros in trade taxes in the first half of 2022. A spokeswoman for the State Statistical Office in Halle said on Monday that a maximum value had been reached. The previous peak value for the first six months of 2019 was 448 million euros. Converted to the inhabitants, the municipalities took in 250 euros per capita.

According to the statistics authority, all eleven districts recorded an increase in trade tax compared to the same period of the previous year in the sum of the associated municipalities. The range was between 4 million euros higher payments in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel up to 27 million euros in the Saalekreis. The Burgenland district experienced an increase in trade tax revenue of a whopping 119 percent.

With an increase from 14 million euros to 53 million euros, Halle posted the highest absolute increase. By June 30, the state capital of Magdeburg had collected around 65 million euros in trade tax.
