Saxony: CDU state board: ten-point plan for energy supply

Dresden (dpa/sn) - The state executive of the CDU in Saxony has passed a ten-point plan for a secure and affordable energy supply. "We have the impression that the traffic light has absolutely no idea what it is doing. With this policy, it is driving our country's energy supply against the wall," explained General Secretary Alexander Dierks on Tuesday. If the strongest economy in Europe falters in this way, the consequences will be dire far beyond Germany.

"Instead of giving people tips for washing cats with washcloths, the government should do its job. At the moment, however, we are only seeing work refusals and patchwork," criticized Dierks. Instead of taking resolute countermeasures and mobilizing all options for a secure energy supply in this crisis, the federal government is wasting valuable time with ideological debates.

The demands of the CDU concern, among other things, an end to electricity production from natural gas and a longer use of lignite and nuclear power. In addition, the Union is demanding a reduction in taxes on energy, the establishment of a hardship fund by the federal government and a rescue package for public utilities. An upper limit for gas prices is necessary.
