Thuringia: CDU parliamentary group will abstain from the budget

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Despite a large number of compromises with the red-red-green minority coalition, the opposition CDU parliamentary group will not approve the Thuringian state budget for 2023. His parliamentary group will abstain, announced their parliamentary group leader Mario Voigt on Thursday in a special session of the state parliament in Erfurt.

According to Voigt, his parliamentary group tried to repair the budget draft of the government of Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left), which they believe is inadequate. "But the basic structure of this budget is not correct," he said, explaining his group's decision. Too few crisis precautions are being taken.

Despite the abstention of the CDU, which is the second largest parliamentary group after the left in the state parliament in Erfurt with 21 MPs, he assumes that the budget will be decided, said Voigt. "The budget will pass the state parliament today."

The minority coalition of Left, SPD and Greens has 42 votes in the state parliament. The AfD parliamentary group has 19 votes, the FDP group 4. There are also 4 MPs who do not belong to any parliamentary group or group.
