Thuringia: VWT: Citizens' allowance "wrong decision in labor market policy"

Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Thuringia Business Association (VWT) has criticized the planned citizens' benefit as a "wrong decision in labor market policy". "In particular, the waiver of sanctions by the job center in the first six months - the so-called trust period - is problematic," said VWT Managing Director of Labor Market and Social Policy, Sven Nobereit, according to a message distributed in Erfurt on Tuesday. It must continue to be reasonable for people who receive state benefits to keep counseling appointments.

The so-called citizen benefit is a basic security benefit for employable beneficiaries, which is to replace unemployment benefit II - also known as Hartz IV - in January 2023.

There will be an unconditional basic income, according to Nobereit, which contradicts the basic principles of the welfare state, that those people who cannot do this on their own must be helped. The people "who have to work hard for this generous government action" feel it is unfair to automatically recognize assets of up to 60,000 euros and large apartments. In addition, the fact that assets are not taken into account and that the size of rental apartments is considered appropriate will cost the municipalities and states dearly.
