Perpetrators are on the run: money transporter wedged on the highway and robbed

A scene like in the film: At a motorway junction in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, concrete blocks lie on the road and block a money transporter. Two vehicles arrive, men with submachine guns steal the money and disappear. The transporter is set on fire.

Armed robbers attacked and robbed a money transporter on Autobahn 20 in Western Pomerania. As a police spokeswoman said, the incident happened early in the morning at the A20 Gützkow junction (Vorpommern-Greifswald). The perpetrators fled with an unknown amount of loot - the search was unsuccessful until noon.

According to investigations so far, no one was injured. According to the police, the robbers had prepared the coup well. The two masked men are said to have had submachine guns with them. In addition, several large concrete blocks are said to have been placed on the street. The perpetrators came in two vehicles and forced security company employees to stop in front of the concrete blocks so that they could not escape.

One of the two perpetrator vehicles was immediately set on fire. After opening the money transporter at the rear, the men fled with their second vehicle and the loot on the A20 southbound. Before that, fire was set at the rear of the security transporter. Only then should the employees of the damaged regional cash and valuables transport company get out of the van. They were unharmed.

The Gützkow junction remained closed for hours, and the A20 was freely accessible. The A20 leads south to Berlin and Stettin, west to Lübeck and north to Rügen.
