Waldsassen (dpa/lby) - The police found around 70 kilograms of illegal fireworks on a 35-year-old in the Upper Palatinate. The man now had to pay more than 1,000 euros for disposal, the police said on Tuesday. The officials stopped the man's car on Sunday near Waldsassen (Tirschenreuth district).
The 35-year-old came from the Czech Republic and is said to have bought fireworks there for 700 euros, which are not permitted in Germany. The man also had marijuana with him and a drug test was positive. The police are now investigating the man, among other things, for violating the Explosives Act. Just last week, border police stopped a pickup truck carrying 60 kilograms of illegal fireworks.
