A symposium organized by National Union of Mountain Guides was held at the Manege de Chambery Convention Center on Monday, June 13. Two conferences were held during this event. These conferences were held to discuss the future of the high-mountain guide profession. At 10 a.m., the conference addressed the theme of the "responsibility/freedom" balance in the practice of mountain sports. The lunch break was followed by discussions on the topic of the role of humans in the chain and the definition of high-mountain guides. The SNGM called in experts to help answer these complicated questions. Cedric Dentant, an altitude botanist and Brad Carlson, a guide and ecologist; Nicolas Fieulaine, a researcher and teacher of social psychology; and Cedric Carlson, a guide and ecologist.
