Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Six and a half weeks before the referendum on the deselection of Frankfurt's controversial Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD), the city will inform you this Wednesday (11.30 a.m.) about the current status of the preparations. Eileen O'Sullivan, head of the department responsible for elections and voting, and Tarkan Akman, the municipal election officer, have announced that they will attend the press conference. Also present is Stefan Köster from the competent Citizens Registration Office for Statistics and Elections.
Almost all parties in the Römer town hall are demanding Feldmann's resignation, including the SPD. After the mayor had not accepted the deselection by the city councillors, the people of Frankfurt now have to decide on his future. The referendum will take place on November 6th. The trial against the 63-year-old, who is accused of accepting an advantage, also begins in October.
