Moers/Duisburg (dpa/lnw) - After shots were fired at a man in Moers on the Lower Rhine, a homicide commission from the Duisburg criminal police began investigating suspected attempted killing. A 26-year-old man was found on Monday afternoon with gunshot wounds to his thighs in front of a grocery store, the Moers public prosecutor and the Duisburg police said on Tuesday.
The victim is therefore a homeless man from Moers who came to the hospital but is out of danger. Witnesses first heard a bang nearby. Shortly thereafter, the owner of the grocery store noticed the injured person and called an ambulance. According to the police, it is still unclear which weapon was used in the crime and whether it was possibly an argument in the drug environment.
