Erfurt (dpa/th) - According to the city, the deficit of the Federal Garden Show (Buga), which took place in Erfurt in 2021, is significantly lower than assumed. There remains a loss of around 500,000 euros, said Mayor Andreas Bausewein (SPD) on Friday in Erfurt. A minus of around four million euros had previously been assumed.
The organizers had originally hoped for 1.9 million guests for the show. According to the city, around 400,000 fewer guests came because of the corona restrictions such as the flower halls that were closed for weeks and the obligation to wear masks on the premises, which means that there was less income from entry. Since the program of events had been greatly reduced, significant savings could have been achieved.
