Seitenroda (dpa/th) - The Leuchtenburg Foundation was awarded a prize at the International Asia Tourism Exchange in Singapore. She received the award for meaningful tourism (Meaningful Tourism Award 2022) on Thursday, as announced by the foundation based in Seitenroda (Saale-Holzland district). The Leuchtenburg applied with its sustainability concept and primarily focused on gentle tourism, taking into account the ecological, social and economic aspects.

A total of 18 winners were honored for their offers in "Meaningful Tourism". The concept stands for successful approaches to creating quality, benefit and satisfaction for all links in the tourism value chain in global tourism for the post-pandemic period, the statement said. The Leuchtenburg Foundation received the award in the "Travellers" category.

The Leuchtenburg Foundation celebrated its 15th anniversary in May. The foundation bought the castle near Seitenroda in 2007 after years of vacancy from the Thuringian state development company. With ten million euros in subsidies and four million euros from foundation funds, large parts of the facility were renovated, new buildings were built and the "Porcelain Worlds" exhibition was established. Among other things, it contains the tallest porcelain vase and the smallest porcelain teapot in the world, according to the foundation.
