Transfer rumors are "nonsense": Hinteregger complains about "media hounding"

Martin Hinteregger feels he has been treated unfairly. He complains about a "media hunt" against him, the reason being the research on his right-wing populist business partner at the "Hinti Cup". At the same time, he clears up rumors of transfers.

The defender Martin Hinteregger from Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt, who was recently criticized for his business relationship with a right-wing extremist local politician, has complained of a "media hunt" against him. He said this in the "Kronen-Zeitung".

"At first I thought the whole thing was just satire. Then it took on crazy proportions. I clearly distance myself from any right-wing ideas, everyone knows that!" Said the 29-year-old on the sidelines of the "Hinti Cup" in Sirnitz in his Home in Carinthia, Austria: "I just wanted to organize a hobby cup and party. This media hunt made me sad."

FPÖ politician Heinrich Sickl, a well-known right-wing populist from Austria, was involved in organizing the hobby tournament. The Viennese investigative journalist Michael Bonvalot uncovered this business relationship, but without assuming that Hinteregger himself had right-wing ideas. Hinteregger ended the business relationship, Sickl complained about a "dirt bucket campaign".

The "Hinti Cup" takes place this weekend, but with a narrower program. Most of the planned concerts have been cancelled, neither DJ Ötzi nor the Frankfurt rapper Vega will perform.

At the same time, the Austrian countered transfer rumours: "I will definitely end my professional career at Eintracht Frankfurt!" He emphasized. "The transfer rumors are nonsense. I'm not switching to Hertha Berlin either - as rumored," said the central defender. His contract with the Hessian Bundesliga team runs until June 30, 2024.

And then? "I would only storm Sirnitz in the lower league for my SGA," said the defender, who had started playing football in Sirnitz. In the coming week there should be talks with Frankfurt's sports director Markus Krösche.

Hinteregger had recently said that the signs for him in Frankfurt had been separation several times. "A lot has fallen apart this year. I was told in late autumn and between the quarter-finals against Barcelona to leave in the summer," he said.
