Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Two young women were rescued from a burning apartment in Nuremberg with a turntable ladder. The fire tore the 22-year-old and the 29-year-old out of their sleep, as the fire brigade announced on Wednesday. Flames and smoke prevented them from escaping the stairs from the second floor. The women could only flee into the next room to the burning room and called for help from the window. According to a spokesman, local residents called the fire department.
The emergency services freed the women from the apartment early Wednesday morning and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the roof structure and adjacent apartments. Rescue workers took the rescued to the hospital with smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were still unclear, according to the fire department.
