Hesse: EVG interrupts strike at Hessian state railways

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The EVG union has interrupted its strike at the Hessian State Railway (HLB). Both sides reported that negotiations have been going on since Wednesday after a mutual rapprochement. Employees had stopped working at the state company for 68 days and partially obstructed rail traffic. The EVG calls for wage increases of at least 6.8 percent for HLB employees. Employees should also be able to choose whether they get more money or more vacation.

The HLB management had accused the union of acting against the interests of the employees. She is sticking to outdated demands from 2021/22 instead of talking about the current challenges with an appropriate inflation adjustment. The HLB is already paying higher salaries voluntarily and has also granted a voluntary corona bonus of 1200 euros.
