North Rhine-Westphalia: Unknown traces of a corpse: DNA tests

Hagen (dpa / lnw) - In the case of the scrap metal dealer who was killed in Hagen in March 2021, there may have been other participants who are now to be identified using DNA samples. Although there are three urgent suspects in custody, traces were found on the man's body that do not match any of them, as prosecutors and police announced on Wednesday.

The investigators are now planning a DNA series examination for a limited group of people: Men who have had contact with the previously known suspects in the past have been asked to submit a saliva sample on a voluntary basis, it said. If the samples did not match the traces seized, they would be destroyed immediately.

Since September 2022, two men aged 35 and 36 and a 29-year-old woman have been in custody on suspicion of murder. They come from Hagen or stayed in the city for a long time. A 42-year-old who was originally also in prison was released after further investigations no longer led to any urgent suspicion.
