Saxony: Flood damage on the Wesenitz near Neukirch eliminated

Neukirch/Pirna (dpa/sn) - The construction measures to eliminate flood damage on the Wesenitz in Neukirch (Bautzen district) have ended. The state dam administration announced on Thursday in Pirna that the damage caused in July 2021 had caused more sediment to get into the water. In addition, measures have been taken to improve the ecological structure of the river in order to revitalize the habitats for animals and plants. According to the information, the costs of the measures of around 150,000 euros were financed from federal and state funds.
